  2. Climb Out of the Darkness

    June 15, 2019, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Vermont State House

Have you or a loved one experienced a perinatal mood or anxiety disorder (PMAD) like postpartum depression? You are not alone! Together, we will honor those who have experienced PMADS and shine a light on the fact that these disorders are the most common complication of childbirth - and often go undiagnosed. Climb Out of the Darkness, coordinated by Postpartum Support International, is the largest awareness-raising event devoted to perinatal mental health. We climb to support each other, raise awareness, build community, and raise money for Good Beginnings’ unique and critical work supporting Central Vermont families during the perinatal period and throughout the transition to parenthood. Meet at 10AM on the State House Lawn and then join a community walk on the bike path to the Peace Park and back. Share your story. Shine a light. #Climbout If you’d like to be a part of this year’s Climb, please join our team: https://postpartum.z2systems.com/teamCentralVT

  3. Awakenings Current Work by Kate Longmaid and Tom Merwin

    June 15, 2019, 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM

The T. W. Wood Gallery at 46 Barre St in the Center for Arts and Learning in Montpelier, Vermont is pleased to announce Awakenings; an exhibit featuring current work by Kate Longmaid and Tom Merwin. The T.W. Wood Gallery is honored to have their work at the gallery. Through a contemporary approach to portraiture and still life, Kate Longmaid explores what is revealed in the intimate moments of seeing. With still life, Longmaid is drawn to subject matter that is ephemeral. Captured in fleeting moments, these paintings reflect on the transient nature and beauty of life. Tom Merwin's painting process expresses a layering of symbol and spirituality, using nature as a doorway to the expression of existential concerns. Traveling the trails through the Kittatiny, Catskill and Green Mountains have been a continued influence and resource for Merwin.
