Leslie Bell founded the Paletteers in Barre, Vermont in 1957. Initially, the Paletteers held extremely popular annual summer art shows and hundreds attended. Like current “pop-up” events; artwork was displayed outside in Barre City Park on a snow fence. Exhibitors had to break down the show each evening and reassemble it in the morning. Artists scrambled to protect their art whenever it started to rain.
Since the 1981, the Paletteers have exhibited at select Barre and Montpelier indoor exhibition venues. Many outstanding local artists have been Paletteers members through the years and the T.W. Wood Gallery is pleased to be a part of the Paletteers tradition.

SESSA (Sao Paulo, Brazil)
with The Dead Shakers
Sessa is a long-time fixture of the American and Brazilian music scenes known for his collaborations with Yonatan Gat and co-founding acclaimed psych-rock group Garotas Suecas. Sessa's debut album Grandeza points to new, more subtle directions for Brazilian pop—a deep, minimalist, almost insinuated use of the rich textures and rhythms that define the songwriting history of Brazil, which Sessa now joins as one of its most promising new voices.
Sessa’s songs are sung in Portuguese, with visceral, sensual lyrics. The music gets a deliberate minimalist treatment rarely found in contemporary Brazilian music, more reminiscent of the bareness of Leonard Cohen, with touches of tropicália, and a collaboration with the group Música de Selvagem that permeates the album with elements of spiritual and free jazz.

Singer-songwriter Sessa. A co-founder of São Paulo psych-funk group Garotas Suecas, Sessa recently debuted a collection of sensual solo songs, in which the vibrant textures and rhythms of Brazilian popular music are pared down to an understated lyricism reminiscent of Leonard Cohen and Devendra Banhart.
