Wool Slipper Making Workshop

6:00pm-8:00pm Wool Slipper Making Workshop

Stace Fulwiler is back in the studio to teach us how to make custom wool shearling slippers!! In this two-part workshop, you will learn how to make a pair of handmade wool sheepskin (AKA shearling) slippers from start to finish. No previous experience is necessary, and we will provide all materials and supplies. First, you’ll get to pick out your favorite colors and textures from our stash of wool sheepskin, and decide whether you want a round toe or pointed toe. Then, we will trace and cut out our patterns, make a durable leather sole, and learn how to stitch pieces together. You’ll leave with a pair of handmade, customized, super warm slippers that will last through many chilly seasons. This workshop is beginner-friendly. We will be using sharp scissors, mallets, and small metal hand tools, so you’ll need to be comfortable gripping tools, hammering, and hand-stitching.

Thursday Feb 6th 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
@ North Branch Nature Center

Forest management can have a lot of different objectives, from wood products to habitat enhancement. But what happens when your management objective is to protect the autonomy of nature? Passive management, also called passive rewilding, is the practice of standing back and letting nature direct the ebb and flow of life. Learn about the value of passive rewilding through both human and non-human lenses, grapple with the incongruity of human and forest timelines, and consider the merits of building future old forests, even if we might not live to see them ourselves.
