We spoke to Lauren Parker, owner of The North Branch Cafe, to learn more about her path into the restaurant industry along with her philosophy on customer experience and providing healthy food to locals.
Originally working in the healthcare service consulting industry where her concern was for the patient and for healthy medical practices, Lauren’s transition to providing healthy food and tea felt quite natural to her. Lauren was inspired to open a business in Montpelier, having lived in the area since 1989. Having a business in the middle of town was always appealing to her. Furthermore, making it a service-to-the-community kind of business felt like the best way to be a more integral part of this great city.
Lauren states, “We serve a lot of gluten free and vegan food options which initially was a very important space to fill in town. As we have evolved over the last 12 years, we have looked to provide options in town that don't already exist or to fill a time space that has a hole. And we still serve great food for as many dietary needs as we can. We offer a lot of organic and local where possible food and beverage options. We have also introduced the great taste and health benefits of premium loose leaf tea to our town.”
The North Branch Cafe has just introduced a new winter salad, called a Buddha Bowl, to be featured during restaurant week and paired with a delicious Green tea called KukiCha.
Lauren feels that her restaurant has an amazingly relaxed atmosphere and phenomenal staff. The customer experience is an important aspect for her and they work hard to provide the best experience, the best food and the best tea and wine!
The North Branch Cafe stands out by offering a unique selection of savory and sweet food options, not falling under any particular cuisine style. Lauren and her staff provide an outstanding selection of premium teas with something for everyone.
Ultimately, Lauren shares, “We make our guest experience an important part of our offering. I wouldn't say it doesn't exist anywhere else, but I can say we are proud of what we offer and provide at The North Branch Cafe!”
