Announcing our special guests! 

 

Sue Minter – Founding Member, Montpelier Alive

Sue Minter has a long career in public service and community building in Vermont. In 1996, she worked for Montpelier to develop the City’s first Downtown Strategic Action Plan and helped to establish the Montpelier Downtown Community Association later renamed Montpelier Alive. Sue recently stepped down from her role as the Executive Director of Capstone Community Action, an anti-poverty non-profit in Central Vermont dedicated to creating resilient
communities and advancing social, economic and environmental justice. Minter has served the state of Vermont as the Secretary of the Agency of Transportation (2015), Deputy Secretary (2011-2014) and as state’s Chief Recovery Officer (2011-2013) following the devastation from Tropical Storm Irene. Sue also served on President Obama’s White House
Council on Climate Preparedness and Resilience (2015) as a sub-committee co-chair and also led a Vermont disaster response team to support Colorado DOT after 2013 flooding. Minter’s public service included elected office as State Representative in the Vermont legislature from 2004–2010, serving as a member of the House Appropriations Committee and House Transportation Committees, when she was selected to be an Aspen Institute Rodel Fellow in
Public Leadership (2009-11) and was designated as a 2008 Emerging Political Leader by the State Legislative Leadership Foundation. Minter was the Democratic candidate for Vermont Governor in 2016.
A graduate of Harvard University (BA) and M.I.T. (MA in City Planning), Sue and her husband, David Goodman, live in Waterbury Center and have two adult children.

 

Lindsay Kurrle – Secretary, Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development


Lindsay Kurrle was appointed Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development (ACCD) by Governor Phil Scott in September 2019. In this role, she oversees the Departments of Economic Development, Housing and Community Development, and Tourism and Marketing. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she led the Governor’s Economic Mitigation and Recovery Task Force, directing the distribution of more than $300 million in relief funds to Vermont businesses.

From 2017 to 2019, Lindsay served as Commissioner of the Vermont Department of Labor, managing over 300 employees and overseeing workforce development, unemployment insurance, workers' compensation, employment services, and occupational safety programs.

Before entering public service, Lindsay spent 15 years as a business owner and began her career as an auditor for the international accounting firm KPMG. A strong advocate for economic growth and community vitality, she remains committed to strengthening Vermont’s economy and supporting its local communities.

Senator Rocket - Eat Vermont 

Senator Rocket is an artist and entrepreneur. Born in California, Rocket - as he is more commonly known - is a graduate of The Putney School '10, Middlebury College '14, and Vermont Law School '24. Rocket is the storyteller and driving force behind Eat Vermont, a technology platform and media channel with over 55,000 followers across the state. He has previously served on the Hartford Selectboard and is passionate about all things food and community.
