This December, downtown Montpelier is getting extra cozy with our annual Cocoa Crawl and Cozy Up With KHL! Saturday, December 13th you’ll be able to sip, sample, and shop your way through downtown with seasonal treats, warm drinks, and plenty of holiday cheer. Keep scrolling for all the info! |

Cozy Up at KHL
Inspired by the Danish concept of hygge, our local library invites participants of all ages to gather as a community and embrace the winter- by getting cozy at KHL! Join us all day or for just part of the event. Either way, you will walk away feeling more connected and ready to welcome in the season.
Hot Cocoa Bar 10:30am-12:30pm near the Fireplace
Create your own yummy hot cocoa concoction with different toppings available.
Sled Dogs 10:30-11:30am Outside on Library Lawn
Join us for this educational and interactive program with Siber Sled Dogs where you will meet adorable Huskies, ask any questions you have, and take pictures with them attached to a sled.
Wreath Decorating 11:30 am-12:30 pm Hayes Room
Get into the holiday spirit and decorate a beautiful wreath with Sarah from The Magic Bean Farm! We’ll have 20 wreaths available to decorate on a first-come, first-served basis, along with plenty of festive materials. You’re also welcome to bring your own wreath to personalize and make it shine.
Silent Reading Party 11am-12pm East Montpelier Room
Bring in some tea or coffee or stop by our free hot cocoa bar before entering the East Montpelier Room that will be transformed into a special, cozy reading space. We will read together in quiet camaraderie. All readers are welcome: ebooks or audiobooks, poetry or prose, fiction or non-fiction- it’s BYOB(ook).

Skinny Pancake: Choco Nutty, Choco Monkey, Lovemaker, and Heartbreaker Crepes all feature chocolate hazelnut spread as well as classic and peppermint hot chocolate.
Zutano: Handmade crocheted hot cocoa rattles and scratch and sniff hot cocoa puzzles make perfect stocking stuffers!
Other Activities
Evergreen Trees in Winter Walk: 2-3:30pm. Join naturalist Gail Johnson at the New Shelter in Hubbard Park to explore the interesting ways evergreen trees survive the winter and ID native evergreen trees.
Illuminated Bridges: Dusk. Stroll the 10 illuminated bridges of Montpelier! Post a picture on social and tag us on Instagram for a chance to have your photo shared in our stories! Check out the newly glowing tunnel of light that is the Shaw's Pedestrian Bridge, the famous Taylor Street Bridge, stand on the Rialto Bridge and snap a pic of the Langdon Street Bridge in the background, and don't forget to check out Granite Street.
Holiday Markets
Solidarity Craft Fair: 9am-3pm at the Unitarian Church of Montpelier. 22 Vendors of locally and internationally made goods offer unique and hand-made gifts, a warm chili lunch prepared by Main Street Middle School's Sustainability students and a silent auction.
Blossom Wellness Center Holiday Market: 12-5pm. Featuring local, small-batch artists and makers. Including Prophecy Chocolates, a local "bean-to-bar" direct trade chocolate company, importing an heirloom cacao variety directly from indigenous family farmers in Peru.
Charlie O's Bizarre Bazaar: 3-6pm. 5th Annual! Shop crafts and gifts while enjoying a drink and supporting your local artists.
Live Entertainment
Cafe Noa: 1-3pm. Eclectic Roots Music with the Sanctuary Mutts (AKA: Tim Jennings Trio).
Lost Nation Theater: 2-3:15pm A Child's Christmas in Wales & Other Tales. The Man of 1000 Voices, Mich Kabay, shares his love of dramatic reading performing Dylan Thomas' A Child's Christmas in Wales and Other Tales . Featuring works by Robert Frost and others, with stories & poems curated especially for families and children - and classic poetry and literature lovers of all ages. Free, with donations appreciated, signing up in advance is encouraged as seating is limited! Sweet Concessions - including Hot Cocoa - will be available.
