Murder at the Museum is back again this year! Please join us November 1, 7:00-9:30pm for a 1920s themed night of intrigue and fun. TW Wood Museum will transform into the scene of the crime, and it’s up to you to solve the mystery. Tickets are $45 and include: - A unique character assigned upon ticket purchase. - Delicious food to enjoy through the evening. - Cash bar with specialty drinks - Clues to help you crack the case! Dress in your best costume and immerse yourself in the mystery as you uncover secrets and work with (or against!) other guests to solve the crime. This is the perfect chance to show off your sleuthing skills, meet new people, and support a great cause.

Glow Ride 2025

The Glow Ride rolls out and lights up your life again Saturday, November 1! Brought to you each year by the City of Montpelier Complete Streets Committee, the Glow Ride marks the start of our annual Be Bright at Night event series to raise awareness of the importance of lights and reflective gear to help motorists see cyclists and pedestrians when it's dark. There will be a Glow Walk and Glow Run to come, so stay bright! What is it? A no-drop, family friendly evening bike ride around the city led by Complete Streets Committee members. Our route is typically ~4 miles for any level rider. We always have participants of all ages, bicycles of all types, and lots of fun! Where and when? Meet at City Hall @ 5:45 pm. The ride will depart at 6:00 pm. How to Prepare: Bring your bike and put on lights - lots of lights and bright and reflective clothing! Dress warmly and for all weather. There is no rain date. Looking for an excuse to wear your Halloween costume one more time ? That's cool too. Veterans are invited to tell their community about their experiences serving in the military, and how those experiences have affected them. Non-veterans are encouraged to attend and listen. Vets Town Halls are free and nonpolitical, and all perspectives are valued. Our goal is to increase understanding between veterans and non-veterans in our community. Refreshments will be available. Join us in the State House cafe starting at 12:30pm for pizza from Positive Pie, baked goods from Skinny Pancake, coffee and tea from Capitol Grounds, cheddar from Cabot Creamery, and additional fare from Hunger Mountain Co-op. Visiting Teacher-Naturalist Justin Cifello will share about his sculpture practice and his plans to create a communally built large-scale sculpture at NBNC over the course of the next week. A presentation on creating sustainable sculptures with invasive plants while also helping restore biodiversity. About Justin: Justin Cifello is an artist and organic farmer from Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts. Inspired by his lifelong fascination with nature, Justin volunteers as a trail steward, educator, and writer for local land trusts, with a focus on native and invasive plants. His interests have merged in his unique sculptures, which he has been creating from invasive vines and shrubs since 2010. One of Justin’s goals for his sculptures is to help restore the natural balance and biodiversity of the local ecosystem by removing invasive plants from the environment (while taking care not to spread seeds) and giving them a new purpose. He has created sculptures of dragons, monsters, sea creatures, geometric shapes and wedding arches using largely natural materials and often situated in public parks. League of Women Voters Launches Speaker Series: Voting Rights and Access to the Ballot The League of Women Voters of Vermont, in partnership with Kellogg-Hubbard Library presents the first in its 2025-26 Lecture Series. This season we look at Voting Rights and Access to the Ballot. The first program, on Wednesday, November 12, at 7:00 pm, presents Julio A. Thompson, Assistant Attorney General for the State of Vermont and Co-Director of the Attorney General’s Civil Rights Unit. He will discuss the 14th Amendment and President's Executive Order on birthright citizenship. The League of Women Voters of Vermont Lecture Series, in its tenth season, is designed to bring outstanding speakers to discuss contemporary issues related to democracy and social justice. The Lantern Parade & Bridge Lighting Celebration marks the lighting of the final three downtown bridges, officially making Montpelier the City of Bridges. Event Highlights: 5:00 PM – Gather on Langdon Street for light refreshments and opening remarks. 5:30 PM – Lantern Parade begins featuring community members and homemade lanterns. Route travels down Main Street, across the newly illuminated Shaw’s Pedestrian Bridge, and ends at Taylor Street Bridge. 6:00 PM – Fire show by Cirque de Fuego Family-friendly and free to attend! The Montpelier Community Gospel Choir is excited to host nationally recognized performance artist Dr. Kathy Bullock for a concert celebrating the joy of Gospel Music, “Lift Every Voice and Sing”. This is a free one-hour concert by Dr. Bullock, workshop attendees, and Choir members. although donations are welcomed. Dr. Kathy Bullock is Professor Emeritus of Music at Berea College, Berea, Kentucky and an Adjunct Professor of Music at University of Kentucky, School of Music. She performs and conducts workshops throughout the US, Europe and Africa and is currently a visiting professor at Bennington College. It 272 species, provides 80 quick guides and charts for rapid identification, and contains nearly 3,000 color drawings and photos. It is the first field guide in sixty-five years to cover the trees and shrubs of the Northern Forest Region; the first ever to includes quick guides to habitats, buds, leaves, flowers, fruits, and families; and the first ever to use stacked photos and colored vector drawings throughout.

This is a free one-hour concert by Dr. Bullock, workshop attendees, and Choir members. although donations are welcomed. Dr. Kathy Bullock is Professor Emeritus of Music at Berea College, Berea, Kentucky and an Adjunct Professor of Music at University of Kentucky, School of Music.
