Exhibit Opening: For the Love of Vermont
10:00am-5:00pm Exhibit Opening: For the Love of VermontThe Vermont Historical Society is excited to present a major exhibition of paintings, prints, and drawings titled “For the Love of Vermont: The Lyman Orton Collection.” It is a selection from the largest private collection of 20th century artwork by Vermont artists, collected over the past 45 years by Lyman Orton, best known as the proprietor of The Vermont Country Store. This remarkable exhibition at the Pavilion Building is the first showing of works from The Orton Collection in central Vermont. Co-curated by the Vermont Historical Society. Among the 50 artists in the exhibition are Luigi Lucioni, Walton Blodgett, Francis Colburn, Cecil Bell, Rockwell Kent, Emile Gruppe, Ruth Mould, Mitzi Goward, and Paul Sample.

The fun begins at 3 pm with the July 3rd Food Truck Festival and the FamilyFest (for all ages!!) on the State House Lawn. After the FamilyFest, the Montpelier Mile Road Race begins at 6 pm and kicks-off the Parade! After enjoying the parade, join us on the State House Lawn for a performance by Dave Keller. The night is capped off by an epic fireworks show!

After the destructive flooding in Plainfield and Barre last week, the Flood the Streets with Art event, re-scheduled for Wednesday, July 17th , has been revised to meet the current needs of our wider community. Through the mediums of art, writing, and music, as well as a chance to donate to help the 2024 flood victims, the public will have the opportunity to come together to reflect, express their feelings, and support our neighboring
communities who are currently suffering the effects of flooding.

Down-on-their-luck Broadway stars shake up a small Indiana town as they rally behind a teen who just wants to go to the prom with her girlfriend. Among others, The Prom features Taryn Noelle, Kathleen Keenan, and a host of local triple-threat teens, and stage veterans in their LNT debut. Awareness Through Movement (ATM) are the group classes within the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education. The repertoire of ATM lessons consists of thousands of guided movement lessons designed to enhance kinesthetic awareness and improve movement and attention abilities. ATM is used to recover from injuries, manage chronic pain, enhance athletic performance, and promote overall well-being. It is based on neuroscience and motor learning principles, emphasizing the connection between movement, perception, and the nervous system's development.
Wear clothes that you can move comfortably in. Mats are provided.

All proceeds of this event will support Montpelier Roxbury Public Schools Partners in Education (PIE), a respected 501c3 non-profit comprised of parents, caregivers, and community members who have a mission to “improve our schools, work together, and build community”.
