Montpelier's Independence Day Parade, 2024

Whether you’re marching or watching, the July 3rd Parade is Montpelier’s must-see event of the year! 

Parade Route

The July 3rd Parade starts at the Spring Street roundabout, travels down Main Street and State Street in front of the State House, ending near 133 State Sreet. Parade viewing is best on Main Street and State Street. This year vendors will be located on the DMV side of State Street. Parade viewing will be great from the State House side of the street.

1 Montpelier Police  
2 Montpelier Support Committee (SSN 765) It has been a tradition for many years for the sailors of the USS Montpelier to participate in Montpelier's Fourth of July activities. The City of Montpelier is the USS Montpelier's namesake city. The City of Montpelier has developed a unique relationship with our sailors.
3 Miss Vermont Scholarship Organization Welcome Miss Vermont 2023 Yamuna (Ya-Moon-ah) Turco and Miss Vermont's Teen 2023 Ginger Ragaishis (Ra-Gay-Shis). Yamuna is is a student at St. Michael's College majoring in Psychology. She will compete to become the next Miss America in January. Ginger is a rising senior at Burton & Burr Academy and lives in Manchester and she will compete in the national Miss America's Teen competition in January as well. Yamuna's Community Service Initiative is One Book, One Child and Ginger's is Defying Limits - advocating for those with h learning disabilities.
4 Catamount Pipe Band Catamount Pipe Band is the reigning Grade V New England champion band.This summer they are headed to defend this title in regional competitions as well as appearing across Vermont in community events.
5 Montpelier City Council The Mayor and City Council of our capital city are here to greet all of Montpelier's families and community members. Our Mayor is Jack McCullough and our Council Members are Dona Bate and Lauren Hierl from District One, Pelin Kohn and Sal Alfano from District Two, and Cary Brown and Tim Heney from District Three.
6 Attorney General's Office Charity R. Clark was sworn in as Attorney General of Vermont on January 5, 2023, the first woman to be elected to this position in Vermont. Attorney General Clark began her career in the Attorney General’s Office in 2014 when she was hired by Attorney General Bill Sorrell to serve as an Assistant Attorney General in the Public Protection Division. She was later appointed Chief of Staff by Attorney General T.J. Donovan in 2018 and served in the role until 2022. The Attorney General is the chief law enforcement officer in the state. They are charged with representing the state in all matters in which the state is a party or has an interest. The Attorney General's Office is dedicated to the protection of the health and safety of all Vermonters.

9 Lt. Governor David Zuckerman David Zuckerman is a farmer, father, former legislator, and the current Lt. Governor of Vermont. He is working to make government more accessible and bring more Vermonters into the political process. 10 VT Filipino, American Branch Club of the Barre Lion's Club 

The Vermont Filipino-American Branch Club of the Barre Lion's Club. Our motto is "we save" who needed most help". Volunteers fight back against food insecurity. Lions can support food-based feeding programs, food banks, feeding centers, and similar facilities that provide food to people when they need it most.

11 Girl Scout Troop 30228 of Waterbury, VT Girl Scouts Troop 30228 is a multi-level troop with girls from the Waterbury, VT area. Our troop is made up of 21 girls from grades 2nd through 6th.

Shidaa Projects, Inc. is a Vermont based 501(c)(3) non profit organization focused on sharing the values of West African Culture through workshops and performances in schools and community organizations and venues. Our goal is to promote diversity through the activities that we offer.

15 Vermont Dog Eats Vermont Dog Eats is a USDA-certified organic dog treat bakery and retail store located at 5 E State St in downtown Montpelier. We work with local farmers and producers to source the ingredients for our people-grade dog treats, all of which are mixed, baked and bagged by hand at our bakery.
16 Kellogg Hubbard Library The Kellogg-Hubbard Librarians are back this year with their precision book cart drill team. It takes MINUTES of practice to synchronize so perfectly. The librarians will be performing moves such as the pinwheel, circle, swing and comet.
17 Falun Dafa Association of New England  Falun Dafa , also known as Falun Gong, is a spiritual practice that millions around the world have made a part of their lives. Unfortunately, the Chinese communist party banned the practice in China in 1999. Since then, Falun Dafa practitioners have resiliently and peacefully worked to expose and stop this ongoing persecution. Our group will present 3 gentle, slow Falun Dafa stretching exercises. Our drummers celebrate Independence Day with happy, uplifting tunes.
18 The Mitzvah Fund The MItzvah Fund is a 501 C3 Veterinary non profit. We provide veterinary surgery and dentistry to low income seniors, veterans, unhoused neighbors and disabled first responders. We love being a part of the Central Vermont community and treasure our collaborative efforts with CVCOA/ Meals on Wheels/ and surrounding senior centers!!

23 Marc Mihaly, Vermont House (Washington-3) I represent the wonderful communities of Calais, Marshfield and Plainfield and will be walking with a sign so indicating along with a number of young constituents.
24 Black Bear Hockey The Central Vermont Youth Hockey Black Bears provide fun and competitive hockey for athletes ages 3 and above from central Vermont and the surrounding areas. Programs cater to various skill levels, ranging from introductory learn-to-skate sessions to highly competitive travel teams.  The Black Bears host several "Try Hockey for Free" events throughout the year and play games and practice at all Central Vermont rinks. As a volunteer-based organization, the Black Bears operate on a non-profit basis, prioritizing the love of the game and the development of young athletes.

28 Vermonters for Justice in Palestine with Central VT Jews for Palestine Liberation We will celebrate the resilience of the Palestinian People over 75 years of expulsion, occupation, oppression, dispossession, etc. Vermonters for Justice in Palestine (VTJP) works to support the Palestinian people in their struggle for human rights and to end the illegal, immoral, and brutal Israeli occupation through education, advocacy, and action. We are committed to the principles of self-determination for the Palestinian people, the right of return for Palestinian refugees, and full civil and political rights for all Palestinians in order to promote the equality and safety of both Palestinians and Israelis.
29 Hanaford's Fife & Drum Corps Hanaford's Fife & Drum Corps is based in St. Albans, VT. Named after Capt. Nathanial Hanaford, a drum major in the War of 1812. They exist to keep the history of America alive through music. They are not related to the Hannaford's grocery store!
30  Central Vermont Little League Central VT LL provides the baseball and softball experience to children aged 4-12 from Montpelier and eight surrounding towns, with some 375 children playing across six levels. The players walking today are this year's All Star teams and will be starting play in the District tournaments very soon. Last year's 8-10 team won our District and were runner up in the State Tournament. C'mon out and watch a game and support these players
  Kate McCann and Conor Casey, State Representatives Kate McCann and Conor Casey are Montpelier’s state representatives. Elected in November, they recently completed their first legislative session. In their day jobs, Kate is a math teacher at U32 and Conor is director of GunSense Vermont, an organization committed to reducing gun violence.
32 Kennedy for President 2024 RFK Jr is an inspiring candidate who has brought a spark of hope for the future of humanity and the planet. His priorities are Honest Government, Reconciliation, Environment, Revitalization, Peace and Civil Liberties.

34 Convention of States - Vermont Division

Gerald Malloy is Veterans Coalition Director of Vermont’s Convention of States Chapter. Conventions of States is a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution. 36 Honeybee Steelband Honeybee Steelband and "the Swarm" is an activist group focusing on protecting pollinators through creative and soulful events. Their work highlights the problem of toxic pesticides and other poisons that threaten the survival of bees and other pollinators worldwide - without bees, we will perish as well! Honeybee Steelband celebrates 2023 with "One Hive Under a Groove", their "bee-centric" tribute to Parliament Funkadelic's "One Nation Under a Groove".
37 Onion River Outdoors Onion River Outdoors and friends bring out the old, weird, and wild bikes each year for a celebration of bicycling and human-powered transportation. The antique Penny Farthing bike, also known as the Boneshaker, makes its annual ride through the streets of Montpelier along with decorated bikes of all kinds.
38 Vermont Mutual Insurance Co. Resilience is... adapting to change. Our float focuses on the evolution of a Monarch butterfly as it adapts to changing stages of life. Resilience is adapting to changing environments and persevering in challenging situations as depicted by our "concrete" mountain and growing flowers. 39  Vermont Mountaineers The Vermont Mountaineer Baseball team is a member of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Over the past twenty one seasons, hundreds of collegiate players from all over the U.S. have come to Montpelier to improve their skills playing summer baseball, and furthering their dreams of playing in the major leagues. We have three championships and look forward to another successful year providing the Central Vermont area topnotch baseball and entertainment at Montpelier's Recreational Field.

41 Central Vermont Pioneers The Central Vermont Pioneers are a local sled hockey team for individuals with disabilities. The Pioneers recently won the NorthEast Sled Hockey League's Adult B championship against competitors from Pennsylvania. Ages of players range from 7 to 70 years old. You are all invited to follow the team on Facebook and learn how you can get involved!
